As you may have guessed, my name is Joshua Wyborn. Currently 18 years old (19/08/1991). In 2008, I found my love for photography and started taking it serious, at least more than happy snapping.
In 2009 I completed a NationalBtec diploma in fine art. My final major project titled “42:life, the universe and everything” achived a double distinction. Please view this series of work in my galleries; it is also available as a book in the publications section.
With the input of my father, who also has a passion for photography, my skills quickly developed. In addition, the input of other photographers such as Cole Thompson has helped me grow in so many ways. I thank him for advice in photography and general life. He is truly a humble man.
Why monotone? I find monotone more interesting than colour as you get to see the image behind the coloured mask and the stories behind the image. I am also colour blind, this does not mean I cannot see colour it simply means my mind gets confused by some colours. I do not think about colours I think about tones. It is very hard to explain, I see in colour but I do not process it as colour I think about its tones. I also find monotone a abstraction of the world we see, therefore making us look deeper into the image and in its abstractness finding more truth. A beautiful contradiction.
I am studying photography at the university of Cumbria from September 09-12. Where I hope to learn a lot and to grow within my photographic world.
Please feel free to search the galleries and to contact me.
"Joshua Wyborn is an exciting new photographer whose work has the spirit of the classic black and white masters of the past. His love of photography is infectious and can impress you even before you’ve seen his first image! Joshua is a photographer to keep your eye on."

"Always on hand to lend useful advice, a kind, generous young man who I aspire to be akin to one day, not only in skill, and precision, but also in execution, and perseverance. Josh is a guy who has taught me a lot over the not so long time that I have known him, and is a friend who I consider a great source of inspiration and knowledge. His passion for what he does is truly amazing, and one day I hope to own a massive print of one of his masterpieces, so that each day I can simply stare in awe at it's overpowering ability to display the beauty of this world that surrounds us."

"When I saw Josh's photographic work I immediately invited him to join my newly formed 18+ black and white group 'BW This is personal!!!'. As sole admin/moderator I ensure that only the BEST gets in and Josh certainly fitted the brief; he has an extraordinary eye and technical ability that puts him right up there with the big boys, superb work. I think you can imagine my surprise to find that this work was being created by a lad only 17 years old ... too young to join. Josh is able to post by invite and his images stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best on flickr.
I have a strong feeling that Joshua Wyborn is a name we are going to hear a lot more of in the future. I wish you all the best mate. Please join on your 18th birthday. Tim"10th January, 2009

"Josh is an incredibly gifted and talented photographer. He has a great eye and at such a young age, he has almost unlimited potential. I was particularly impressed with his Homeless Project work. Josh met and photographed various men and women living on the street and shared the images and stories (well at least one that I recall) on Flickr. Pretty eye-opening work. His photo-stream is full of great work, and he has access to a 10-stop neutral density filter, of which I am incredibly jealous! Take a few minutes and check out his great work!
Keep the good stuff coming, Josh!"8th January, 2009

"Now here's a great young and emerging talent. Talent without character is useless, but looking at his work, his character is also showing through his creations. I really think the world will hear a lot more of Josh as an artist. His eye for BW and unusual composition is striking and will only grow more."
