My 365 Set: One photo everyday of the Year!


I guess you could say that my style is self portraits. Mainly because I have been doing a 365 project for a whole year, never missing a day, and also because I am a self proclaimed narcissist. I like attention. I'm my own favorite. (I'm an only child for goodness sakes) Plus, I don't really have too many models around me to shoot, since I am still fairly new at photography life in general. Although, you will sometimes see my friends in my pictures, and on rare occasion, even my family members.

I also enjoy taking photos of landscapes and gorgeous desert sunsets that paint the sky around where I live. It's nice to have a memory of the day I think.

I currently reside in sunny Tucson, Arizona. I absolutely love my city, and could probably never think of living elsewhere. Please come visit! I can give you a great tour. (And actually, I have met up with random flickr'ers in the past, on the spot, no joke!) So come!

I use Flickr more as a social networking site than I do even Facebook or MySpace, which is quite odd. Over the course of my career here on Flickr, I have made so many friends from around the world, chatting with them everyday through the computer, and even the phone. And *gasp* even going to visit them as far away as in Europe for the summer! I take being friends on here as serious or more so than my real friends.

Some background on my photography history: My dad bought me my first point-and-shoot camera Christmas 2005 as a random present. At first I thought he was crazy, but I instantly fell in love with photography & videography very quickly while on a vacation shortly after! Life has nice been the same since. And now, as of March 2008, have upgraded myself to a fancy DSLR camera, when I decided the point-and-shoot was no longer good enough.

I love recording my life and the people around me, as I am a very nostalgic kind of fellow. I can't wait to be an old man someday, and be able to look back at all of my photos when I was young. I find it a shame when people don't like taking photos, or sharing their photos and life with others over the internet. All my family and friends know about my flickr, as I send them e-mail newsletters of my happenings weekly.

From 2005 to mid 2008, all my photos were snapshots. I would take multiple photos of everything. My photography was very candid and boring. However, when I started my 365, I wanted to make my photos artsy, and have a deeper meaning, much like they are today. I am self taught with Photoshop CS4. I still have much more to learn with both Photoshop and how to use my camera, but I like the challenge.

My only gear is a Nikon D60, a cheap tripod, and a remote for self portraits. All lighting is natural, or just random lamps in my house if taken inside.
