I am a single male living in Vancouver with roots in Montreal, New York, Scotland, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Oklahoma, Ireland, Lithuania and Prussia.

Attenuated as those connections may be, they whisper things to me which have very little to do with the temperate rainforest I now find myself in.

Roots are funny things - they have a way of cropping up and flowering far from the site of original implantation - and flowering beautifully so as to discourage mere pruning, to say nothing of further violence.
