Been into photography for just about 4 years now...still learning and finding great ideas from flickr contacts. Some of these contacts have become 'virtual' friends..They have also become great coaches with tips and ideas, some of the main reasons I am learning so much......I've had my Nikon D5000 for about 15 months and I take it everywhere..I'm now at the point where I am frightened of missing something, so it goes with me like a third arm ;-)

My main interest is candid photography but do get the urge to take a photo of anything sometimes! All my photo's are taken straight off the camera and have not been through any processing apart from the simple colour to monochrome conversions and some cropping of necessary..All my shots, whether candid or otherwise are taken as I see them. I do not shoot in multiple shots, single shots only. I take the shot as I see it and that is how I want the shot to be shown. There is no point I feel in moving position to get a different angle.. I am learning just by looking at lots of photo's on flickr. There are some great photographers out there and some of the comments I receive make it worthwhile..50000 views in about 3 years makes it worth it...I am lucky enough to have some great contacts that I can take ideas from...Hopefully I'm keeping you entertained with my pictures....I am just starting the 100 strangers project which should keep me busy and hopefully my contacts entertained...Thanks for your continued support, advice and critiscism, all very much appreciated..

My equipments is : Nikon D5000 with 18-55 and 70-300 and 18-200 lenses.I'm aiming for a nice 100-400 so I can dod some long range candids....

"Well, where to start. By looking through Flickr, I kept noticing Wilf's photogrpahs. That raw energy and no dressing up of the shots is one of the most wonderful things to look forward to. Wilf has become a friend whose opinion I value very much. His subject matter is very different from mine, and if I would venture into the Urban landscape I would like to make the photographs Wilf is creating.
I do look forward to his postings and to see where he has been and what he has seen. Wilf is not scared to put his creations out there, warts and all, and that (as Ms.Sadie said) is very much like the Street photographers from a bygone age.
My life is richer for Wilf's photographs and for being able to call him a friend.
Keep on snapping and may you always have great light."

    Ms.Sadie says:

"Salfordlad1 has quite an extraordinary gift for capturing in photos, those qualities which make us most human. His candid work is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Salfordlad1’s black and white photos are quite striking, reminiscent of photos from earlier periods when the subject, as recorded on film, was totally dependent on the photographer for any qualities of an intrinsic value. Now, with all of the photo-editing assistance available, it is so refreshing to find a photographer willing to put his work out there without all the glam and glitter of a tricked-up photo representation. It’s all art, it’s true, but this gentleman’s work stands head and shoulders above most of the portraitures seen on Flickr mainly due to the realism and subject quality of each frame.

He even strays occasionally into the genre of macro and scenic photography with the same uplifting results. The color photos using macro are critically clear and artistically satisfying. While his scenic photos are colorful treat for the eyes. Thanks to Salfordlad1 for giving me something to look forward to on my Flickr site. The photos are so appreciated and a joy to see!"
