Please take note of the licensing label on each photo. Some are marked as Creative Commons Non-Commercial use with attribution, some are not. .

SPECIAL NOTE: If you are not within the United States, DO NOT ask me for permission to use any of my photos. I have had a lot of issues with people from Amsterdam (among other places) looking to use my photos and without any sure way to protect my US copyrights on these images, I cannot grant such requests. I just don't have the time to be chasing my images all over the Internet. Do the right thing. If you are in the U.S. and want to use one of my images for non-commercial purposes, send me an email and if you are legitimate, I will most likely give you permission.

I shoot mostly with a Nikon DSLR camera bodies, primarily D7000 and D300. I use a mix of Nikon and Sigma lenses and flashes from Nikon and Alien Bees. I believe it doesn't really matter what you shoot with. They're just tools. It's how you use them that matters.

Currently, I shoot about 20% wildlife, 10% portraits and 70% landscapes with a particular interest in landscapes that include historic and old buildings, covered bridges, one-room schoolhouses, grist mills, barns, etc. Portraits and creative lighting are something I really started investigating in 2011. I think I have learned more from Joe McNally, David Hobby, Zack Arias and Scott Kelby in the last six months than I learned in the first twelve years of my photography journey. Special thanks go out to those guys for the great training videos and the incomprehensibly awesome Flashbus Tour feature Joe and David and Joe's 17 cases of lighting gear ;--)

I shot auto racing for twelve years, mostly Sprint Cars, Midgets, Micro Sprints, etc. I gave that up in 2008 to pursue a more generalist type of photography were I could really learn and grow and take on more challenges.

Pixel peepers be forewarned, I have Photoshop CS5 and I am not afraid to use it ! Although I try to keep as much of my wildlife and nature stuff as pure and untouched as it was shot, I reserve full rights and liberties to clone out bird poop when it detracts from the overall theme I may be going for in a shot. LOL.

Several of the non-wildlife or nature images you see in my photostream are meant to be "interpretive digital art" utilizing textures and composites where I feel necessary. I also shoot and process a good deal of HDR/tone mapped images where I feel it feels right and all such photos will be labeled accordingly.
