I'm an average dude with some odd hobbies. I make nostalgic art and music based on the video games I grew up with and some that maintain the magic the originals had. I'll admit it, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, but I do enjoy the other systems - Coleco Vision was my first, then Atari - then I got hooked on the good old NES.

The photos that I'm sharing with you are my bead sprite creations. I work from home and pretty much make my own hours so I have plenty of time to bead. Here you will see my favorite pieces, usually the ones that took more time and care to assemble.

So why the name Doctor Octoroc you ask?

It all started when I was ten. My mother aquired a midi program called Cakewalk, which I fooled around on, mainly re-creating videogame tunes that I was able to play on piano.
When I got to college, I heard a band called the Minibosses. Naturally, I listened to them quite a bit.
More recently, within the past three years, more and more videogame cover bands and chiptune artists were popping up all over the world. With the majority of the 80's kids coming into their own, they began to utilizing their resources (namely, the internet) to spread, share and develop their love of old videogames.
I decided to share my love of music and put together some tracks of piano rock style covers. Since I hadn't seen anyone else doing this, and bands like Ben Folds, Coldplay and Keen had opened the door to many for piano rock, I figured the time was ripe.
It was then that I coined the name "Octoroc" as it was an enemy from my favorite game, the Legend of Zelda. Also, a piano has 88 keys (octo) and i wanted to play piano rock (roc). And if that weren't enough, I was covering 8-Bit tunes.

So there you have it, the origins of my name. Now, having gotten my videogame medical degree, I am Doctor Octoroc!
