Hi, all:

What follows is a DISCLAIMER to prevent further abuse by certain individuals which have been attacking and slandering me in the recent past in order to further their own agendas while trying to damage my credibility and my reputation by casting doubts on my honesty.

If you're a normal, well-meant person far above those despicable intentions, please disregard the tone of the DISCLAIMER that follows, it's not addressed to you at all.

****************************************** DISCLAIMER *****************************************

The pictures I upload to the Internet (including this site) or post to forum threads have been shot by me using the specified cameras and, unless otherwise stated, are utterly unretouched and unprocessed as defined below:

- The current workflow I use for my pics intended for posting or uploading is as follows:

1) I shot exclusively in JPEG format, using the specified camera, and transfer the resulting JPEG files to my PC.

2) The resulting JPEG files are then downsized from their huge original size while adding to them a non-obstrusive frame and copyright watermark at the same time in a unique, unattended, automatic batch operation which just consists in selecting and dragging all JPEG files over the icon of the resizer utility.

3) At the end of that unique, automatic, unattended batch operation, all downsized files (with frame and watermark added) are left in a new folder, from which I take the ones to be eventually posted or uploaded to sites which do not alter the originally posted or uploaded images in any further way, such as Flickr for instance.

4) No further process of any kind, not even automatic and unattended, much less manual, is applied to the original pics.

That's why I state they are unretouched and unprocessed: no levels adjustment, no automatic contrast, no focusing masks, no unfocusing, no noise reduction, no cleaning, no hue and saturation adjustments, no selective HDR or masking, no retouching, no cloning, no layer tricks, nothing.

5) The utility I use for batch resizing is SNS-Resizer version 1.7.2.3, a freeware resizing utility which, to the best of my knowledge does not include any parameters for sharpening or otherwise processing the images other than resizing and adding frame and watermark to them.

The concept of "sharpening" or words or parameters to that effect aren't present at all in that utility or its documentation as far as I know, nor would it be user-selectable or configurable if they were, and tests that I have conducted asking the utility to resize some pics to the same size while adding border and watermark have shown no visually distinguishable differences in sharpness or otherwise between the original files and the (null) resized, framed, and watermarked ones.

I don't have that utility's source code so I can't guarantee it but to the best of my knowledge and based on my tests I'm confident that either it doesn't do any sharpening at all to the resized files, or it merely conducts the slightest of sharpenings in order to compensate for the quality loss and softness inherent to JPEG-compressing again an already JPEG-compressed input file which, as JPEG compression is a lossy format, inevitably results in artifacts and loss of quality, thus the resulting resized file is lower quality than the original, not higher, the apparent sharpness being wholly or mostly due to the reduced size.

- The intended purpose of uploading or posting my pics:

1) I'm not in the business of promoting cameras or proselitizing about particular brands or models and couldn't care less if they sell or not or if you buy the ones I use or something else or nothing.

2) The only purpose of uploading my pictures to the Internet or posting my pictures to forum threads is to share my photographic achievements and knowledge with the photography aficionados community and interested people, and eventually receive constructive comments in regard to them.

3) Additionally and most specially in forum threads, some of my pics may be posted to demonstrate what the particular camera can do in the right circumstances and in the right hands, most specifically in my hands.

4) Thus, those pics only demonstrate what I can do with my camera, not what you can do with yours, even if it happens to be the same brand and model as mine.

5) Thus, you must not assume that because I'm capable of getting those results you'll be able to get similar ones by just acquiring the same model as I used. That would be as naïve as thinking that you can duplicate Rafa Nadal's world tennis results by acquiring the same rackets as him.

6) In short, I make no claim that this camera model is suitable for you or that you will be able to get pics of the same technical quality as mine if you then go and acquire and use a camera like mine.

You might or you might not, but that's none of my business and I specifically disavow any responsibility at all if you then go on to acquire the camera based on my results with it and afterwards you fail to get the same quality. That's entirely your business, not mine, and I reject any responsibility, moral or otherwise, for your decisions or the results you get.
