I've taken photo's from when I was about 13 years old but it is really only since buying my first digital camera in 2007 that photography has become my main hobby. (I'd started off with a Kodak Brownie Box Camera (long gone), later graduating to an Olympus Pen-F 1/2-frame film camera for slides (sadly long lost) , moving on later still, to a Canon EOS850 film camera, thence to my first Fujifilm A700 digital camera and then a Fujifilm s5800 (s800). I got another Fuji, the s2000HD in 2009. My latest is my first dSLR, a Canon EOS 550D early in 2010. I also got another pocketable p&s, a Ricoh R50, since discarded. I think that's enough camera acquisitions, but I aim to improve on lenses for the Canon 550D as a priority now which will be a slow and expensive proposition!
I have keen interests in design, graphics, colours, textural surfaces and architecture though I've no 'expertise' in any of these areas. Along with art, I was always attracted to classical music which remains to this day. Now retired, my interests are mainly photography and music listening.
I prefer and am most interested in photographing the natural environment and in architectural subjects - I don't 'do' people so often! Joining Flickr has given much pleasure and appreciation of the truly amazing work that people do and which one tries to aspire to.
