  There was so much which was pleasing and intriguing in Gérard's rich, deep stream that I had to narrow the field a bit to make just one coherent gallery. Again and again, I found myself drawn to images which gave a sense of containment, a proscribing of experience, frames within the frame. The idea of being shut in - or shut out - kept coming up.
  Sometimes, the effect is a kind of Hopper-like voyeurism - the frame is illuminated with a magical glow, and the elements within it interact at a remove from the viewer, playing out pre-determined scenarios ... But depth, and ties to something outside the frame, repeatedly creep in, via gorgeous glowing backlighting, a reflection which re-casts the whole thing into a wider context, or a subtle layering of textures.
  I am totally compelled by the way I am simultaneously a viewer at a distance, and drawn into the picture and what's going on - I can't quite resolve the tension between these two, and so am held, entranced, neither in nor out. Thank you for such beguiling, intriguing images."

  "I can’t write about Gérard as I would for any other, because calling him just a "photographer" would be way too reductive. In the mind of Gérard, photography is not a goal, even if a noble one, but a strong instrument to reach the expression in its highest meaning.
  His images, always technically perfect, are everytime at the service of an idea, of a cultural theme, of the connection between different fields of knowledge.
  His pictures create unusual links, identities, references, analogies. They explain and comment the reality in a very original way and give birth to a strong interpenetration among images, ideas, thoughts and sensations; they are able to synthesize and logically organize systems which are really distant from each others.
  Because Gérard is eclectic, cultured, insightful and ironical and he is able to modulate all of those skills in an original and personal way.
  You can enter his imaginary universe gradually, learning its complex code, but also on a sudden, only tasting the images, because Gérard is also simply a great photographer.
  
  Je ne peux pas écrire de Gérard comme de n'importe quel photographe, parce que l'appeler comme ça serait vraiment réducteur.
  Pour Gérard la photographie ne représente pas une finalité, même si noble, mais un moyen puissant duquel il se sert pour arriver à l'expression dans le sens le plus haut du mot.
  Ses images, toujours parfaites au niveau formel, sont à chaque fois au service d'une idée, d'une thématique culturelle, de la connexion entre des endroits différentes du connu.
  Ses photographies génèrent des liens insolites, des références, des analogies, elles expliquent et commentent la réalité de façon très originelle, elles donnent origine à des court-circuits émotionnels entre idées, pensées et sensations et arrivent à synthétiser et organiser logiquement des systèmes très éloignée entre eux.
  Parce que Gérard est éclectique, cultivé, sagace et ironique et il est capable, dans ses images de moduler toutes ces qualités de façon très personnelle.
  On peut entrer dans son univers graduellement, en assimilant les codes complexes, ma aussi tout dans un coup, en savourant les images, parce que Gérard est aussi, simplement, un grand photographe."

  "Bien que Gherm fait parti de mes contacts depuis longtemps, je suis encore avide de voir son photostream parce que je sais que j'y trouverais toujours quelque chose de nouveau et tres interessant. Ses photos vous poussent a prendre le temps de les contempler et de vouloir en voir davantage. En plus de sa maitrise de l'appareil photo, ce qui m'impressione le plus est qu'il puisse toujours selectionner des sujets attirants sur lesquels beaucoup ne s'attarderaient pas.   Des compositions extraordinnaires, des réflections marveilleuses, mais aussi des titres significants et symboliques.
  A deuxième vue aparaîssent des messages, des évocations........- pour moi une photo-collection pleine d'intelligence!!!
