When I was a little girl my mom took a night course on photography. I enjoyed being part of her shoots and turning out the lights to see the slides. I took photojournalism in high school, then drawing and sculpture courses during college, knowing that I was interested in art but never having the confidence to pursue it other than a casual hobby.

The year before I had my son, I began to practice more seriously. I set up a darkroom in my bathroom, then rented out a portion of my husband's rehearsal studio as a permanent studio until we discovered that I was pregnant. Ever since the birth of my son, I've worked almost exclusively with digital photos. First with a point and shoot Olympus, then with the Nikon D70, now the Nikon D300. I've never been very interested in computers, but am now finding myself absolutely loving the medium, though I am sad for the loss of film and hope to return to it one day (when I don't have a toddler attached to my leg, hip, or breast).

Most of my photos are of my beautiful son. I take them as a sort of proof for the love and joy I have as his mother. He is my muse. Children are my most favorite subjects, have been for years as a teacher and parent. When connecting with a child, I feel the whole wonder of the world flowing into me. I am also drawn to detailed environmental photography, as well. I think that I may never go back to being a teacher now that I have given myself over to my passions, my family and the camera. The dream of being a struggling artist now feels possible. So happy to have found this inspiring community!

If I am missing from flickr every so often, I am just taking time back for my family. I love flickr. Too much. And sometimes I feel the need to step away in order to devote more of myself to my home. But rest assured, I will always be back to see the inspiration and beauty of flickr's community.

"Autumn has some rich talent and ideas on her stream. She can capture even part of a child and we know the whole story behind it. I adore her style, her taste in processing and her candid feel for life.

The one thing that sticks out in my mind more than most is her outstanding color she achieves with each image. Her popping colors jump out at you!

Anyone who comes here will see it for themselves."

"This testimonial is long overdue! I had the pleasure of meeting Autumn this past summer (and her beautiful Bowie). It was no surprise to meet a gentle, sweet & talented person as this is the style of her photography. It is honest photography and very clear that her shots are carefully executed in that they are packed with love. Keep it up Autumn. You are really gifted. xo-dina marie"

"Autumn has chosen a beautiful path for raising her son, a gentle path full of passion and adoration. That love shines through her images, not just her images of the amazing boy wonder Bowie, but all of her images. There is a grace there that speaks of a gentle, kind, respectful soul. I love seeing her work. Thank you for sharing with flickr Autumn!"

"Autumn was one of my very first inspirations on ILP. I remember so clearly seeing pics of Bowie in a little hat and thinking that I had to keep track of this gal. Ever since I've found her images to be full of inspiration, emotion and skill. There's just something about her images that you don't see everyday - I think it has very little to do with her camera and lens, and everything to do with her heart.

Plus - I still want Bowie to marry one of my girls:)"

"Autumn Fawn is unique, totally COOL and such an inspiration to me! She is one of the best photographers of children I have ever seen and in every picture she takes, you can feel her love for her son. The pictures of Bowie's life are like a gorgeous fairytale storybook and he is so blessed to have such wonderful thoughtful parents and photographic proof of their love for him!

In person, Autumn is as beautiful and sweet as she is talented - a true, one in a million friend."

"pure love, light, reflection, and her heart - all ingredients that make autumn fawn's beautiful photostream. although i have never met autumn in person, i can tell you that she is one of the most gentle, soulful and genuine people that i have had the pleasure of sharing images with. autumn teaches us about childhood again through her son's eyes and her heart. every image that you post, autumn, brings a tear, or sigh, or dear memories from my own life. you are truly an amazing woman, phenominal photographer, and perfect example of what a momma showing her baby the world should be. thank you for all that you have shared with us, and the wonderful inspiration your images have brought. :)"

Her boy is just wonderful but her way of capturing his adventures is even more wonderful. Her photos are moving, and you can just feel her love and joy from looking at them. I really love her style and her ability of provoking emotions with the camera. I find her stream SO inspiring and stimulating to become better myself too. Autumn I think your work is fantastic!!"
