Ian M. Lowry has been a professional artist since he was only fourteen and, six years later, he continues to hone his craft. Beginning his formal career as an architectural draftsman, he eventually grew tired of its monotony. Gradually venturing into illustration, he has found ample room to exercise his skill and fantastic imagination.

Ian's typical medium is watercolor. All of his work is by hand, as he much prefers traditional illustration over digital media. Though his artistic style is, in many ways, highly unique in today's art world, Ian does have many inspirations. The aesthetics of the past have always held great value for him, and he enjoys nothing more than the wild artistic styles and fashions of former generations, especially those of the Victorian era (features of which, though often fantastically manipulated, are easily discernible in much of his work). History's great illustrators, too, such as Edmund Dulac, Arthur Rackham, Kay Nielsen, and many others, have greatly influenced him, and he is happy to follow in their footsteps.

Ian presently has two books in print, and plans for further publication soon. He is exceedingly versatile in his execution, and will gladly tackle most any subject matter. He greatly hopes you enjoy his work here on this site.
