Show Us Your Wears' photostream

This is the photo album for the Show Us Your Wears Fashion Show, which took place March 1st, 2008 at Zero Station Gallery in Portland, Maine. The goal of this show was to get everybody under one roof to celebrate our extremely creative fiber community. We figured that at this time of year – as cabin fever sets in - we all need a little entertainment and inspiration to get us through the rest of the winter!

Here’s a little background of how the show came about... Anna, owner of KnitWit Yarn Shop, was inspired to do the show about a year ago when she and Pam Allen - Creative Director at Classic Elite Yarns – met for drinks at the Dogfish Café. They were marveling over how many people are actively creating unique designs in the Greater Portland area, and decided that a fashion show would be the perfect way to showcase this talent.

Gathering local talent and putting on a fashion show is a lot of work, so Anna asked Ellen of Purl Diva Yarn Shop to help out. Anna knew that Ellen is the sort of creative, energetic person who gets things done, and that she had some very talented customers who would have some interesting designs up their sleeves.

Putting out the call for entries was the start; it seemed like magic when they materialized six months later. The judges were amazed at the creativity and craftsmanship featured in the various submissions.
