That having been said......

No way can I call myself a photographer. I can't stand fidgeting with gadgets, cameras included. Nevertheless, I admire the results that a good eye, good equipment, and skillful postprocessing can accomplish.

For years I never touched a camera, but a visit to Italy's beautiful Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in Oct. 2007 inspired me to take some photos and post them here.

You will see two generations of FVG photos in my photostream: those from the 2007 trip, taken with a point-n-shoot Canon SD750, and shots taken in May, 2009 with a borrowed Canon 5D body.

Due to my lack of experience with a DSLR, plus the fact that I bought a used lens for it that was not nearly up to the quality of the 5D, almost all of my May 2009 shots have required postprocessing with Photoshop. The postprocessing started out as pure salvage work, but I have found that I enjoy it and will sometimes try a new effect just for fun...and sometimes I'll even post it. ;-)

It was wonderful to meet some of the friends I've made here during the trip, and several fine folks spent a lot of their time taking us around to places we would never have seen on our own. Thank you all!
