I started photographing when I was 19 (21?) with a Nikon F4, doing mainly some travel shootings. Then the camera was stolen just in Germany after some years of pretty dangerous trips through South America, unbelievable.
I was so shocked and angry that I started to draw instead and made no more photos for at least 10 years and in November 2008, just bought myself a Nikon D90, and it's just great! ;-)

I like to take pictures and stroll around, I love lost places and nature, I like to make pictures of the way I see the things trough my eyes.

Since I´m here I´m more and more bored with HDR pictures.
It detracts from some wonderful images. It's almost always completely overdone and sometimes I think people use this to make boring pictures more interesting.
That is not my understanding of photography, altough I´m a crappy amateur. But I really hate the need of sunglasses because of the use of HDR or something like that.

So I try to do my best to make some pictures with authentic colours, sometimes just a little bit more contrast, not more.
If I can't make an picture work within the limits of my camera's (and my) abilities, then I ask myself if it's a shot worth taking.

For me photosharing means sharing inspiration, knowledge and experiences - not exchanging awards or shiny group gifs, I just will delete them, sorry!

Comments and also constructive critique are welcome - I think this is the best way of learning.

    Great and amazing stuff!"

"Ilona has a great eye for stunning and interesting items to take photographs from.
Her pictures are always perfectly taken and do not need any enhancement by postprocessing.
I gladly share her addiction to abandoned, rusty and crusty buildings and items as well as her objection against HDR processing and shiny awards.
Her comments are valuable to me and well appreciated.
Ilona's photostream is full of intensive and inspiring pictures.
I'm glad and thankful having met her on flickr !"
