I've always had an interest in photography - when I was little I use to walk around with my camera a animal spotter guides. I think that I was also pretty creative, always painting and drawing. I went through many different compact cameras whilst growing up at school. I started to take photography far more seriously when I started College - in the second year I took a photography key skills course where I learnt how to use a camera, how to develop black and white film, and how to produce enlargements in the dark room. Using black and white film allowed me to concentrate on the content of the picture without the distraction of colour. (after getting my first digital slr, I converted a lot of images to bw and nearly always thought about what I was taking that way.) I bought a Nikon F45 and played around with my grandads old practica slr. I remember being drawn to photographing waterfalls light reflected of water through trees, and I used many in various Art A Level projects.

Following college I went to the University of Bath to study Architecture, and for my 18th Birthday my parents bought me a Nikon D50 and I haven't really looked back.

Now I try to do a much photography as I can in my spare time from working as an Architect at a practice in Birmingham. I primarily concentrate of landscape (both rural and urban) photography and I believe that I have developed a fairly graphic style. I'm also increasingly enjoying the challenge of wildlife photography. However, I will have a go at anything and have done a couple of weddings. I've also sold a few photos over the years and I've had a go at making a two books.

I've dabbled with HDR and DRI photography but I know favour getting the balance on the photograph right 'in-camera' using filters and then followed with minimal tweaking in Lightroom or photoshop.

For those who are interested in such things, I use the following kit:

Nikon D50
Nikon D200
