Here is some technical mumbo jumbo for all you fellow print geeks out there.....
Most of my prints involve 3 to 4 color plates, the key plate which holds the main image matrix and is inked up with black ink is sandblasted at around 50 PSI. This creates an allover "black" like a mezzotint-- but without the rocking (it's not quite as black as a mezzotint, though). This process changes the surface tension on each side of the copper plate creating an annoying 'potato chip'-like warping which kinda sorta gets worked out after about the 30th proof and is a real pain when it comes to registering your plate on the press bed. So, the sandblasted plate is scraped and burnished to bring out the highlights and this way I am able to work "reductively" from black to bring the image out. An advantage of sandblasting is the sandy and 'dreamy' look you can achieve from scraping. This method stands up to many printings without breaking down as easily as an aquatint. The downside is that your scrapers need to be sharpened every 2 seconds because the plate dulls them (there is carborundum grit embedded in the copper from the sandblasting). The second, third and sometimes fourth plate is usually rouletted, aquatinted and spit bited to add marks. I do a lot of a la poupee wiping when I print...
Sometimes this whole process seems ridiculously arduous and arcane but that's what I love about it too.....

Bradley Wind says:
"Hibiki's pitcher brims with warmth, and she pours it regularly into her work, words and no doubt life. I'm often amazed, yet not surprised, to find more insightful words on another artist I've discovered on Flickr that Hibiki beat me to. Her prints always have me considering the time artists spend with a single image...churning, blending, and bringing forth provocative views for all of us to enjoy. Well, worth revisiting her pages and staying up to date with her latest posts!"

"As much as you have said I have helped you, you helped me to retrieve myself. When I met you I was struggling to find my art again. I think together we came back to life at the same point and fertilized each others art into what it is now. Thank you for being my sister and friend... and one more thought my girl... I have never seen a talent such as yours and one so well tended. You are amazing!"

"Hibiki is always already at the studio working diligently on a range of beautiful plates when I slouch in. If Hibiki isn't world famous in five years it will probably be my fault for talking her ear off every sunday!"

"Style, grace and beauty trademark Hibiki's art...but there is an undercurrent embedded in its subject matter that catches me off guard and keeps me coming back to look and dig through its palimpsests."

"Hibiki is definetely a vivacious person to be around in the print studio. She keeps it rocking and rolling all night long. If I could be half the woman she is, then I'd give up being a male."

"She has no advanced computer skills. Don't take her seriously... just kidding. She asked me to write something mean, but I just can't. She has done so much artwork... probably more than if she had gotten an art degree. I love her artwork."

ArtsPreserve says:
"I'm certain she's heard heartfelt admiration about her work before, still I think both sides benefit as artists like Hibiki share their pieces here and reveal life as they see it, wish it and have made it. It all feeds the mind and reminds you of what work can be. The deepest shadows through the purest of process and richest of thinking."

"Hibiki is a grade-A champ who consistently inspires and amazes me with the magic that flows from her brain down through her fingers and out onto paper. She's a great artist and a great friend."
