I'm Keri. I love dogs. I help rescues by taking photos of them in hopes that better photos "market" them to have a better chance for adoption. I liked the name Keri Dogmother b/c I rescue dogs and I thought it was a good play on words from Fairy Godmother.

I'm just a novice shutterbug. I use this site to upload everything I have... so if some things are good and some things are bad, well, what can I say? I don't only post my good stuff. I'm a realist. I'm learning and not every shot is great...heck maybe none of mine are great.

I grew up in Chicago where my parents had a darkroom in their basement. I learned b&w film at an early age and still love it dearly. In high school I listened to the "rational" coersion of my guidance counselor to pursue engineering instead of photography. I think she said the reason was because I could use engineering more practically. hmmm.... anyway, two bachelor's degrees later and I'm finally starting over with cameras and was studying photography at a nationally-ranked school.. Then I went to China and changed my perspective and took a break.
I love candids. I am really into old forms and obscure photography, such as daguerrotypes and liquid light, but somehow I always get "pinholed" (pun intended!!) into the norm. For example I tried to create a unique and artistic wedding and I ended up in being featured in Martha Stewart Weddings. Go figure. Eventually I want to develop a unique style of my own that employs or reflects the techniques olden days but until I learn to do that I am stuck playing around. I currently shoot a few hundred frames a week, and cry over most of them. I'm pretty frustrated with my work most of the time so if anyone has any pointers please throw them at me. I seriously love dogs more than anything. I shoot alot of dogs, dogs, a few cats, and some more dogs.
