I like photography because it encourages us to see, and am especially interested in the role that perception plays in taking pictures. Two people can view the same scene, and yet will perceive and capture very different photographs. I am constantly surprised by the photos I find on Flickr. I learn new ways of seeing from the talent that is on display here.

Equipment: I prefer Nikon DSLRs, Canon point-and-shoot cameras, Fender and Martin guitars, Chinese food, and red motorcycles... although I often admire people who follow other equipment-religions (even my own motorcycle is blue... sigh). I like lively vehicles, but am doubtful of anyone with more than four bumper stickers on their car.

About me: I grew up in the South and live in the mountain west. I've been taking pictures since Moby Dick was a guppy. Now if I can only live worthy of this Nikon camera...
