Welshman based on the beautiful Bristol Channel coast west of Cardiff and I am interested in industrial landscapes and the transport infrastructure that travels through those landscapes.

Being brought up in the central South Wales Valleys I have seen 40 years of coal mine closures and industrial dereliction and now we are seeing the greening of the landscape again.

Oh by the way I am a professional Geophysicist/Geologist working at Cardiff university, so some mining and rock photos may also appear !!

I started my photography with a Kodak Instamatic back in 1972 then a Zenith EM in 1975 and progressed to a Canon AE-1 on my 18th birthday. For over 25 years I have used Canon AE-1 and A-1 equipment with numerous interchangeable lenses. In the late 1980s I dabbled with large format using a Yashica Mat 124G twin lens camera.

I mainly use compact digital cameras for my professional work (because of the expense, dust and dirt issues) and initally used Canon G1 and G6 cameras. Lately I have been using a Panasonic Lumix FZ18 because of its amazing lens versatility, even though its a bit electronically noisy when you push it.

I also experiment with digital Infra-Red, HDR, Stereo anaglyph and ballon based stereo air photography through my professional work.

I believe photography is not about expensive cameras its about using your imagination and getting out there to capture the image that you have planned in your head. Although most of the time the image in your head is much better !
