i moved to florida and bought a house 11/30/2011. just getting settled, there are a million things that need doing before i can relax in my one chair.

sooo, that said:

I am living a double-life, that of naturalist/historian. I have a degree in biology from Westfield State University, with a loving interest in plants and animals. I am working right now on a MA in American History through APUS, an online university that demands 3x the reading and writing I did for my undergraduate degree.

I've written a series of books on gravestones and cemeteries in Western Massachusetts. The books are called Stories Carved in Stone and include West Springfield, Agawam, and Holyoke.

I got my first digital camera (Thanks, Dad) in September 2003, an Olympus, and took it to an old cemetery in town a few days later. I was instantly hooked on gravestones - they stand still! All you need is raking light and the skulls and cherubs pop! Followed it with two Kodaks, and I've recently migrated to the Lumix FZ (Frank Zappa?) 40. Loving the 24x zoom, and the light sensitivity - I rarely use the flash anymore.

Thanks for stopping by - leave me a note or comment and make my day.

Hugs,
Rusty
