Main camera used now: Panasonic Lumix TZ7

I have been taking photographs since I was a little boy, and had my first camera before I was 10. I have been taking photographs ever since, and with the advent of the cheap digital camera, I have been able to take hundreds of photos that previously would have been virtually impossible.

I just love the flexibility of the digital camera, with its option to view a photo straight away after taking, the ability to store hundreds of photos on one memory card instead of having to keep changing rolls of film, and I have uploaded my photos to my computer first, and then uploaded some of them here to Flickr.

I probably have thousands of photos in digital form, plus hundreds more from the old days just waiting to be scanned in. I continue to upload some of my best photos or anything that is just interesting (even if only interesting to just me).

I was using my Canon Digital Ixus 60 until recently, when it would no longer power on. So I purchased the Panasonic Lumix TZ7, which so far, is a great camera, with a much higher resolution than what I had before and great for video too.

The image I have used for my Flickr icon is that of the Linux penguin, as I like mostly using the Linux operating system on my computer. I have found great free open source software out there, such as Ubuntu (Linux operating system) and the Gimp (graphics program), and have used them to get the most out of my photography. I use Firefox and Flock browsers, Flock being especially good for use with Flickr and for uploading my photos.

Thought for the day: Never underestimate the value or beauty of the mundane.

Hope you enjoy at least some of what I have here.

I have now had over 9000 views, I hope that people are enjoying my photos, I have seen some very inspiring photos taken by others and hope to see more. (Update on 20 September 2009).
