I am a nerdy scientist who dabbles in photography.

I have had a Canon cameras since 1990. I have had a EOS1000F with film, and a digital EOS Rebel XTii. I now use a digital EOS 7D and EOS 400D These cameras are relatively light and travel well. I try to take a shot so as not to have to crop or post-process - probably a carryover from working with film and negative for so long. I mostly take pics of my travels, but sometimes experiment with the camera at home..I have always enjoyed futzing with black and white and lately have started experimenting with infrared and HDR - so much to learn with this stuff...

Have enjoyed travelling to the places in blue and would dearly like to get to the places in white...

I joined flickr in January 2008 and have found this website to be a source of inspiration. So many visual artists out there... it is really wonderful...
