At age six, I hung two linked cherries over my ear.
Found Objects + Adornment = Jewellery

Not that I understood that concept (or equations) at that age. I did, however, think the cherries were very pretty with their sleek dark garnet skin. I remember being sad that they would not stay on while I played.

About Me:

I spent 18 months in an Applied Arts (craft arts) course at the College of Fine Arts in Sydney, and have completed several short community courses to augment my 'DIY' skills.

I feel content when I'm crafting something. As a result I have many unfinished objects (UfOs) hanging around the house.

I love mammals and plants, I hate cleaning and adore travelling. Oh, add coffee and T2's "Liquorice Legs" tea to the adore list. Yum!

I have a blog on Livejournal and I love being friended: jemimah-irvin.livejournal.com/

About my Objects:

Although I like to create forms that have organic qualities, I'm strongly influenced by the industrialised environment of the city I live in.

All pieces are designed and drawn first, and then created by hand - often using the lost wax process - carved, cast and moulded.

It iss during the creating stage that I form a very tactile bond with the pieces as they 'come to life' for me. The curves and surfaces emerge from a simple 2D design and become a touchable form.

However I haven't had a Pygmalion experience. Yet.
