My name is Beth Bennett. I am a custom dressmaker/ fashion designer. Really, more of a dressmaker, in that I envision a gown from the beginning and finish it out to the end, all myself. I really rather prefer it that way because I get to control all the process and quality. And I love to create, so that is just fine with me. The great Vionnet considered herself a dressmaker over and above fashion designer, so I consider myself in pretty good company!
I've always been artistic through out my life. Creating is like eating or breathing to me - absolutey necessary and life sustaining.
I started my own business in August 2007. It is called
B Trousseau Couture.
Building a business is one of the hardest things I've ever done, and it is a struggle every day. So far, I am getting so much out of it.... It is a dream I've been cooking up for several years, so I am just so happy to finally see it come to slow, sometimes difficult fruition.
My focus is custom bridal design, but I design and make clothing for all special occasions.
I am beginning to create small collections that can be re-orderable from online sources or found in independent bridal salons that want something unique or different.
When I participate in fashion events, I feel like my goal is to push more ideas of glamour, femininity, and romance out there into the world. I just participated in the Midwest Fashion Week fashion show for the spring/summer collections '10.
