Born in Kidsgrove Staffordshire, 1960. Lived there ever since.
Left school after starting A levels to take job as a Trainee Traffic Manager with W. Stonier and Sons Ltd (Buses) in Jan '78. Been in the independent bus sector ever since, operating, now repairing/restoring. Hobbies other than buses, railways, food and some Country music... Johhny Cash / Waylon Jennings etc. I've never claimed to be a 'photographer', but I enjoy small bouts of it, and it's a necessary evil with the main hobbies. I've been married since 1983... to the same woman, and have three daughters, the eldest of which works for me, the other two are at sixth form college, and uni. I prefered Britain as it used to be, I dwell in the past and like it that way. I hate the relentless destruction of industry and it's substitution by retail parks. I detest people's in-tolerance, and the compensation culture. I'm overweight, going bald, synical
and rejoice in people's perception that I'm grumpy. Oh, and the Renown thing, It's not some form of self glorification (!), merely a model type of AEC double decker bus I like.

Lady Wulfrun says:
"Martyn’s truly wonderful and superbly composed pictures, with accompanying comments, are a fantastic insight into the long lost world of a once proud public transport system that served Britain. His pictures are an inspiration to anyone with the slightest interest in transport, and especially those who lived through the 70’s and 80’s, and who were observant enough to see what was going on about them. It’s hard not to get a little teary eyed looking back at these fantastic images, so wonderfully captured by Martyn of a much missed bygone Britain. Thank you for sharing your superb photos and for being a much valued contact."
