My father always wanted to be a National Geographic photographer. He taught me B&W photography and darkroom techniques. I’ve always been drawn to colors and patterns, and now enjoy nature, landscapes and night photography. Whether bike riding, walking, out for a Sunday drive or visiting with friends, there’s a camera at my side. Spontaneous shots are the norm but planned picture taking is becoming more common; one weekend I’ll checkout an area then when the weather, lighting and season are right go back for the shots. But I must admit that many times when I turn around I’ll see a better shot than the one I planned and just took. Guess you would say I’m an advanced amateur film photographer who is now getting into digital and one-day would like to retire and make photography more of a second profession.

Viewing the pictures on Flickr and chatting with contacts has been enlightening. There are many talented people in the Flickr world and seeing their works is inspiring and educating. Many of my personal favorite photographers are on my Contacts list. Some are great photographers and some are great artist with cameras; I want to become both.

Paint Shop Pro X2, Photo Shop, Lightroom and PhotoMatix techniques are very different from darkroom techniques… a lot to learn. I’m in awe of what some folks create on their computer.

I'm a member of several local photo clubs and like learning from more accomplished photographers and teaching when I can.

"Light_Rider is a great photographer. Although new to digital, his skills as an experienced film photographer is pretty obvious in his works. His city scapes are amazingly beautiful. It reveals the beauty of Long Beach not so commonly seen by most individual. Take the time to visit his photostream and you will be awed by his photographs."
