I'm 44 years old, and have been a cake decorator for over 25 years. I live in the Portland Oregon metro area.

I love to bake! I've been baking since I was a young child, with the encouragement and teaching of my mother and both grandmothers. I got into cake decorating when I discovered how much FUN it was to create something sweet, but GREAT to look at too. People don't ask me to make a cake for losing a job, or bad grades in school, or a divorce (well, ok...I did ONE for a divorce. The exception to the rule, I suppose). They are celebrating, and ask me to commemorate the event with dessert! That's what keeps me going..seeing the joy on people's faces when they see what I create for their special day. What could be better?

My family and friends are very important to me. Though life gets in the way of showing that as often or clearly as I'd like, they are ever-present in my thoughts.
