Been taking photos for years but now trying to adapt to digital. Not easy as I was a great advocate of battery free cameras with full manual control. Anything fancier than my (very) old Pentax still feels a bit new fangled.... Need to study the manuals a bit more!
Many of my photos are taken with a compact (Fuji FinePix) which I bought as a handy camera to take those shots that appear when at work or otherwise not got a 'proper' camera with me. Worst thing about it is no viewfinder but just a screen which is mostly useless due to light reflection. so it can be very hit and miss. Also the focus can be dodgy. Now have a Nikon D40 - all hail viewfinders! Still getting the hang of it....
