Leilani,a 24-year-old photography grad student, is almost always overdressed in heels and frocks from the 1950s-1970s. She hails from a junking family, one that spent Saturday afternoons combing garage sales and antique malls for additions to their growing collections. When not trawling the aisles of Chicago-area thrift stores for Melmac plastic dishware, glittery costume jewelry or cookbooks that feature such bizarre concoctions as ‘frankfurters stuffed with potatoes’ and ‘creamed chicken in potato cups;’ Leilani can be found indulging her love of Antiques Roadshow or BBC’s Cash in The Attic from the comfort of her 1920s-era apartment in the Ukrainian Village. She dreams of some day having an all-aqua kitchen (including appliances) and having the ability to wear a different vintage dress every day of the year (yes, 365!).



Jade is a 23-year-old native of Fayetteville Arkansas. She has only fairly recently started hardcore thrifting, getting addicted to the thrill during school breaks when she would accompany Leilani on her thrifting/yard sale sprees. As one might suspect from her name, her favorite color is green… jade green, and she snags any items she can find in that color, although she also has a healthy appreciation for aqua. Housewares are her main focus, and Pyrex, Fire-King, Corning Ware and Tupperware make up the bulk of her collection. Having inherited some pieces from her grandmother, Fire-King jadeite is her ultimate holy grail.
