Flickr: loves the country

Hi- my name is Jim, and I live in a small town in Idaho. I'm not a photographer but I have a camera and enjoy taking pictures of my kids and family. I am an outdoor person and really enjoy taking photos of high mountain lakes and the beauty that abounds in this wonderful area that I call home. My hiking and backpacking partner, also my son, has gone away to college and got married. So, I end up going alone more now.

I'm a finish carpenter by trade but find that work just gets in the way of all the things I would like to do.

I guess I'm just an old fashioned guy. (My kids say just old) My favorite camera is the Nikon F2 I bought new in 1975 with a 50mm f:1.4 lens and a 70-210 zoom. I also have a few telephotos that fit in that range as well. I also have 2 Nikon F4s's with a 28-200 and a 70-300 and a Nikon F5. I like to take them out in my 1972 Chevy pick-up and shoot nature. I also have a Panasonic Lumix Digital point and shoot that I use quite a bit for the convenience of digital.

I have a few photos of my family and people that I will allow friends to see. F&F see the same for now, could change in the future, we'll see.

I guess, since I dislike reading profiles that haven't been updated since 2001, maybe I should update mine again.

I have been unemployed for almost 3 months now. Unfortunately, it seems like I have less spare time than I had when I was working.
I like to keep up with my contacts photostreams and I just don't have the time to comment on every photo . I'm not a 20 year old and I don't have to be on or near this computer at all times. I may not get on it for days at a time, but if you shoot me an email, I will get back to you. Maybe just not today, it may take a day or two.Feel free to comment on my photos. If you add me as a contact and you have inapproriate material in your stream, or if your contacts have nothing but porn, I will not add you. Don't be offended, thats just not what I'm doing here.

I have made some really wonderfull friends here on Flikr, and really value those friendships a great deal. Please feel free to comment on my photos, and contact me if there is something you really enjoy, or if you would like more information, or have questions.

I am a family man. My family means everything to me. My wife and I have 4 kids. A son and a daughter that are married and going to college.(No, not to each other, thank you) And 2 sons living and working in Twin Falls, Idaho.

You know, I only have one pet-peeve here and that is when I look at comments on a photo I like and see nothing but group invites and awards. Extremely annoying to me. I wish they had a separate page for those things. When I look at the comments, that is what I would like to see-comments. That brings me to my request. Please do not post awards and group invites on my photos, I would really appreciate it.
