Hi, I have been playing around with cameras for years and years... always enjoyed it.. and always admired the skills of those that actually COULD take photos..



So of late, with the kids almost all grown up, I am starting to take this hobby a bit more seriously, well that is my intention...lol

I have taken some basic photography courses, got some books and magazines, started to collect some gear and been using Flickr to see what others skilled practitioners are doing, and how to do it....

All I really know at present, is that I don't know what I am doing, just when I think I grasp the basics, I see what someone else is doing and I am blown away again...

So many things I want to try. I love the macros I see, the star trails are amazing, light painting leaves me in awe.. don't mention flashes... **ishbel** 's storm shots and ghost shots are great.. (Sorry, to name one is a problem, as I should also name all the rest who post there great photos).

My weapons of choice at present are;

Canon 5D MkII
(new toy, I had always wanted the 5D, and just when I decided my skills would enjoy such a beast, they brought out the MkII.. I am glad I waited..)
Canon EF 100mm Macro 1:2.8 L IS USM
Canon EF 16-35mm 1:2.8 L II USM
Canon EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM
Canon EF 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 DO IS USM
Canon Speedlite 580EX II

Canon G11 something lighter to carry around

Jobo GPS geotagger (great for embedding GPS coords)
Scandisk Extreme III 32 Gb CF card + lots smaller..
OLIN 160GB battery powered USB External hard drive with CF card reader (great for downloading USB card in the field)

Canon remote switchs
Hahnel remote control
Cokin Grad filters... hmm these should be fun

Manfrotto tripod (not used enough... bit lazy..)

Lowepro backpack....( upgraded Mar 2010)

Lightroom version 3.0 and PS5.. although this is still daunting..

Retired (but not forgotten...)
Canon 10D, my first digital DSLR

Retired and disposed of...
Ricoh... my first bloody expensive Digital camera.. great at the time... :)
