Monterrey is a vibrant, modern city that has dramatically grown as a site for arts culture and entertainment and has become an important center for film and audiovisual arts in Mexico.

The Monterrey International Film Festival, presented by The Nuevo León State Council for the Arts and MMCinemas is a rendezvous point where hundreds of films and thousands of spectators come together each year to enjoy and discuss the best of worldwide cinema. In 2008, the festival will take place from august 15th to the 23rd, nine days where cinema will be the key word in Monterrey.

The Festival´s heart is the competition section, which is open to Fiction and Documentary Features, as well as Fiction, Documentary and Animated Short Films. But many other exhibition programs also contribute to the festival´s diversity, like Visión Social: Film for a better world, or Galería INDY, or the many premieres and special events that happen every day.
