Welcome to Seneca Creek Photography by myself, Allison Pluda!

My passion for photography all started when I wanted to capture certain aspects of the natural beauty of Seneca Creek by my house in Maryland, where I grew up. I am completely self taught, but I use books, other photographers, and the beauties of nature to guide me. I got my first camera in 2005 and have been using photography to try to visual convey the complexity and beauty of our world ever since.

Aside from photography, I love geology, rock climbing, skiing, fly fishing, backpacking, a good laugh, and the great outdoors.

As an earth scientist, it is my personal goal to understand and appreciate how the earth works on many different scales. I use a scientific approach to learn about the earth's systems and use photography to explore, express, and appreciate the finer details and powerful feelings that the outdoors invoke. Currently, I am pursuing a masters degree in geology at the University of Wyoming and live in Laramie, WY. As a geologist, I am interested in isotope geochemistry as well as geobiology and how they can be powerful tools tools in trying to understand earth processes and systems as a whole.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Michigan and the Appalachian Mountains, although living in Wyoming is a dream come true.

I will forever be a student exploring all the trails, smells, mountains, and aspects of the outdoors. I love to find and photograph details in nature that move me in some way and remind me to appreciate the world we live in a little more and hope that my photography can inspire you to do the same.
