I had a flickr account in my real name long time back. When started this new one, I chose the name "Harvie Krumpet". If you are curious about the name try searching YouTube. There, you will find a half-an-hour long animated movie. You'll never regret watching that. This is one of the best movies I've ever seen..

I grew up with cameras. Two of my uncles were professional photographers (one's quite famous). So playing with the camera is not a new thing to me. But I started to take pictures with greater enthusiasm when I bought my 1st camera after coming to KL. It was a Canon Powershot S2IS, a truly marvelous camera. In the beginning, I used to take photos as a traveler. Later, I started taking pictures for my blog. Now I take pictures simply for the joy of taking pictures. Bought an DSLR in 2008, Canon EOS 40D, as I grew too envious of all my friends and colleagues, running around carelessly with their DSLRs. Soon I realized that my shots were not coming up as expected. If you get crappy pictures after spending loads of money, it never feels good. So I buckled up to learn the secrets of photography. Very hard to say how much I've learned so far. As per my wife, even the neighbor's cat has a better sense of composition compared to me..

BTW, I've upgraded to Canon 5D Mark II recently as I felt, full-frame is the way to go..

I don't give away my pictures for free. Exceptions are for exceptional cases only..

    @faz_kerk says:

    ""When in doubt, go out there and experiment some more. Find the connection point. Find the meaning." - He didn't put the ideas in those exact words, but that's the gist of Arup's work.

    To that idea I would add my observation:
    "Everyone has doubts, even when looking at the best thing that happened to them. But that is not the only emotion we experience. And all our emotions unite to be one of our guides on the journey to find the meaning of what we do."

    That's what knowing Arup and his work has inspired in me. To continue on my own journey, from being good to great."

    "You can ignore him, I meant you can easily overlook Arup Kamal, and you won't regret at all as he is not a tactical enemy and he won't be able to come up with a good lesson to give you a proper teaching. But if you waste the chance to befriend him you will loose a chance of a lifetime."
