I am an artist who has been using Found Objects as a medium for about 15 years. I have built up an archive comprising thousands of found objects--primarily the kind of things that are found in Charity Shops (Thrift Shops; Op Shops) I now find that I am being controlled by these possessions: they demand my time, my money and considerable amounts of space The DEPARTURES project involves the redistribution of 90% of this archive by offering the objects as inspiration or working materials to anyone who elects to work with them. All participants commit to send a record of their outcomes--words/sounds/images etc-- to this site. They are also asked to hand the objects they have used onto another person who is willing to make the same commitment. Each object will have a sticker attached that will act like the identification ring ornithologists fasten to the birds they wish to study. This is an eatio.org project.
