The Short and Skinny:

If you are interested in using one of my images let me know. Please do not use my images without asking me. Some of the photos and collages are negotiable, please contact me with specific inquiries. If you are non profit and interested in use please contact me as I do wave fees in many cases for these types of organizations. Its the least I can do to give back. Artist Statement:
The images I produce are meant to reflect our global interconnection. I feel privileged to have grown up in a world where even if I could never make it to very many places on the globe, I could at least see images from there and meet people from everywhere. Living in Chicago for the past 13 years I have been able to experience more cultures in one place than I ever thought possible. Exposure helps to erase ignorance. Erasing ignorance creates empathy. Empathy creates understanding. Understanding creates peace. And peace...............

Bio:
Codo originally from Omaha, first began working in art over 12 years ago, had no prior training in art and is completely self taught.. He started out innocently enough with a children's spiral splatter paint kit. The problem however was the inks that came with it did not produce the same images as what was on the box cover. Codo not one to give up came at it with more industrial paints and out came images more like the box and on a trek he went. Over the years the repertoire has moved on to the more serious sides of photography, painting and collage. Now he produces collages that combine painting, photography and anything else he can get in the computer. Trying to find commonalities in objects, items and cultures that are distant and foreign from one another and yet can all the sudden blend together harmoniously. Codo's photo's have graced book covers for Northwestern University and Notre Dame and have been featured in The Chicago Reader, Chicago Public Radio, Gapers Block, Mun2 and and numerous other places. From 1995-1998 his work was shown at IDAO gallery. After which he decided to spend most of his time on development of something more unique and in his own voice.

My latest project:
I have been working on this electronic collage project for the past 6 years and over 11,000 hours. It was originally done to create CD covers to go with music mixes I made for friends. As time went on they developed a life of their own. Each one evolves organically from my own photos taken from chicago and around the world, extracts from my paintings, found images and pretty much anything else I can get my hands on. When done they are meant to capture the complexity of a moment. Like when you see something over and over and you still keep noticing something new.

I have a book now available for sale composed of my paintings, photos, collected writings, and collages. It's 120 pages and jam packed with all kinds of good stuff. If you are a pop culture slave, political junkie or just like new takes on old material this may be the book for you. There is a 15 page pdf file available for download so you can check it out.

Meditation:
Stay true to yourself, find a path and travel it but always remember to stop and sniff the flowers and the rest will take care of itself. Don't seek fame let fame seek you. Remember fame can often be found in the form of the grim reaper. So many wasted carcass' of potential are lost to those who run into the headlights of fame. Are you going to be roadkill or the person taking photos of it?
