My name is Lawrence, and I was born and raised in Sacramento. I did have the opportunity to live in the Philippines, the land of my parents' birth, for seven of my teenage years. While it was very eye opening for my world view and I cherish the friendships I had made, in general-things over there just weren't for me.

I returned to Sacramento in 1998, and after finding work with a local tech company, I was able to further explore aspects of my life that had been placed on pause while living abroad, such as photography.

As late as it may be, I feel like I'm approaching a point in my life where I can say I'm coming into my own (whatever that means).

Like a lot of things about me, subjects of my photography are varied, eclectic, random. I (very) often find myself shooting landscapes and night shots/long exposures. Although sometimes it feels like I'm not learning as much from them as I do when I shoot portraits - something I consider my weakest facet of photography, but an area I'm always trying to work on.

Photojournalism fascinates me to no end - usually not the subject itself, but the ability to be in the right place at the right time and to be able to tell a complete and engrossing story in the blink of an eye.

I enjoy photography in the company of other photographers and try to attend photowalks whenever possible. Believe me, it's a lot easier to convince people I'm not some sick pervert with a big camera if I'm in a group with other sick perverts with big cameras. er... That didn't come out quite right, but I hope you get what I mean.
