Recently retired from an administrative role, constantly adding activities, interests and hobbies, if only to convince my wife to keep my to-do lists short.

I've slowly returned to the joy of photography as a hobby. I got my first 35mm (an Argus manual in 1960), and started developing basic B&W. I own two Pentax's and a Canon EOS SLRs, but switched to digital P&S about five years ago.

Until December of 2007, I shot pretty exclusively with a Canon A700 set on Auto. I acquired a Canon G9 for Christmas, which I'm now having fun with. From here, it's explore my camera settings more, explore Photoshop (Elements 7.0), and hopefully fool around with HDR now that I finally have AEB.

UPDATE: Finally back into SLR after buying my son's used Canon XTi late in 2008. Swearing that I'd never have to buy anything else (he included two lenses), I've since bought four Canon lenses, new and used. Does it never end?

Sold my first photo for commercial use, one someone spotted on Flickr. Not looking to sell photos, but getting that first check is pretty nice.

I'm now serving as Treasurer of the newly-formed Lehigh Valley Photography Club (LVPC), and we've reached 82 members in the first full year..

I enjoy relaxing by "painting" photos, at first with Photoshop Elements, and now with Gertrudis GMX software.

I have also entered into the crazy world of camera tossing. No, it's not for the faint of heart, as you actually toss your camera into the air and then catch it on the way down. Note: after a number of tries with my Canon G9, I acquired a less-expensive camera to play with.

My son, a part-time photographer/artist who has exhibited a bit, suggests in a polite way that my photo style has been and is "postcard". The thing is, and this is indeed unfortunate (for him, not for me), they sell a lot more postcards than art photos. However, I do think that is changing as photography as art (using original painted or drawn art as a baseline) continues along the continuum with the new digital techniques.
