Irene Luckett founded Koffee Kompanions in 1996. Like many ideas, this one started with what seemed to be an unrelated event: Irene’s mother gave her husband a French press coffee pot. Soon, he was grinding freshly roasted beans and brewing them in the press. He loved the more flavorful coffee, but it cooled off too quickly, and reheating destroyed the taste.

Being familiar with tea cozies, he asked if Irene could sew him a coffee cozy for his press pot, with an opening at the top for the plunger whenever it was extended for brewing. He added that the opening would need a fastener to reseal it after he pushed the plunger down (when the brewing was done).

Using the cozy Irene designed; he found his coffee stayed hotter, longer. He asked her if she could manufacture and market this to other coffee drinkers. After she understood he wasn’t joking, they discussed the idea, and Koffee Kompanions was born!

Now Koffee Kompanions offers a full line of original Thinsulate insulated accessories for hot and cold drinks, hot liquid foods, and ice cream.
