Photography has been a hobby since my family's "around the US" camping trips. I got some Sears 35mm camera that I must have dropped early on because it never focused well. Then came a Kodak Retina S1 which did OK but I didn't really get interested until I got a black 1957 Asahi Pentax S as a hand me down (works fine). Since then, I've gathered and used:

Honeywell Pentax Spotmatic II (black-works fine)
Asahi Pentax Spotmatic II (black) (purchased at BX in Frankfurt-needs cleaning)
Asahi Pentax SuperA (black) (used for color slide film-works fine)
Asahi Pentax MESuper (silver-works fine) (loaded with B/W flim)
Olympus XA

I started using digital in about 1999 with an Olympus D960 that only had Japanese menus. It's 1.3 mp sensor had better saturation and color balance than later smaller (but more megapixel) cameras to come. The "camera in an Altoid tin" sold me so I got a
Pentax Optio S which eventually died in Sapporo so I had to purchase a
Pentax Optio A10 at Yodobashi for an exorbitant price. (Japanese camera shops never have old stock).

I got tired of trying to look at an LCD screen and not knowing what was going onto the sensor so I finally got a DSLR:

Pentax *ist DS - I have lots of Pentax lenses so I wasn't about to change brands. I recently upgraded to a
Pentax K-r for the increased resolution and the image stabilization as well as the O-GPS1 attachment that automatically adds the lat-long to the EXIF headers of the images so I don't have to try to figure out where I took the picture.

I like taking landscapes and pictures of historic architecture. Occasionally, I pop on a longer lens and shoot people pictures. Most of what I post here are landscapes.
