Time to make a change in this profile....actually most of it remains the same, but after a very tumultuous year at the pen last year, there have been some changes, the best being a new principal! After last years debacle of placing me in 3rd grade math and science, this year i find myself in 5th grade, one on one. (Those that know me, know that i am math impaired, AND that i KNOW preschoolers and how to work with them....so join me in figuring out the "let's fix what is not broken and break it" mentality of the administration!) I admit the science class really grew on me, mainly because i worked with an awesome teacher, who loved doing experiments and taught with a wonderful sense of humor and hands on approach. Of course i liked it, so now i am not in that class anymore! Do i detect a pattern here!?? This year i have been cut to part time, (much to my dismay, since i provided the health benefits for my family...one of the few perks when one is as severely underpaid as i was, for the intensity of the work i did), am working 5 part time days instead of 4 full time days. On a good note, they cut my benefits wrongfully, so i have them back, but only until they cut my hours again for fall so that i can not get them back.....Nice, huh!?
OK....it is now fall 2011, and as mentioned i have now lost my benefits permanently, as i have been cut in hours yet again to well below the threshold to qualify. it saddens me to see this happening and to see the consequences of the children’s structure and comfort be last on the list now in Special Education, where consistency is key. They blame budget cuts, when in fact it is WHAT they choose to cut that makes the difference....sadly they have chosen to cut what effects the children the most...and the children are my priority. Off my soap box now....and still tending to the children...this year, SLLD Kindergarten....and also happily beginning my own business in Photography with much encouragement from my friends!
I like to read, do photography and artwork, and travel in my spare time, of which there NEVER seems to be enough! i prefer sunny, warm locations,(translation: BEACHES) with family and close friends. They are the Blessings of my life, and i am thankful for them all. Special thanks to my husband for indulging me in my hobby, and putting up with my travels in pursuit of it, sometimes reluctantly!
I suppose fair warning here would only be right....i tend to be a bit of a wonky-nut (cheeky?!?!? me!!?) .......harmless, but in the pursuit of adventure and laughter...and i do mean tear inducing fits of the latter, and wild and possibly law breaking adventure!! Having been "the good daughter....sister....mother....wife...." i have earned the right to cut loose a little bit and be the me i have always wished i was...it is turning out to be quite a ride, and i am enjoying every minute!
i check and try to respond daily to comments...depending on how crazy my schedule gets and what other life gets in the way.(i have been blessed with my first Grand Daughter, who is now 2 years old and a new one on the way in early 2012....sooooo, bear with me, since i love her to pieces and spend as much time as i can being her crazy Avia!) please know that i appreciate every comment, fave, invite or award i get and thank you all just for LOOKING at my pictures!
If you decide to mark me as a contact, please don't be offended if i don't reciprocate. i am getting to a point where i am afraid i won't be able to manage checking everyone and commenting, which i love to do. i thoroughly enjoy the banter with my flickr contacts and friends, so many of whom i have gotten to meet and shoot with....that makes flickr for me! i DO look at streams of everyone that comments on my pictures and try to fave and/or comment on the pictures there. IF YOU FAVE MY PICTURES OR ADD TO YOUR “GALLERY” AND YOU HAVE NO PICTURES FOR ME TO VIEW AND NO PROFILE, YOU WILL BE BLOCKED... i enjoy looking at peoples photos too....and it makes me feel like you are up to no good if you aren't sharing! OH! and please do not bother me with porn...i mean REALLY....do i LOOK like i want to see your junk!? NO thanks!
Thanks in advance for understanding, and the respect of my copyright.
More than 3 years have passed since i took a shot and joined the flickr family. It has proved to be a VERY worthwhile ride. I have "met" so many talented and encouraging people from all over the world...thank you ALL for broadening my horizons! in turn i have also personally met quite a few of my contacts for photo shoots and fun times...(much to the "horror" of my 3 grown daughters who were sure i would end up kidnapped by some psycho!!) It has been very fulfilling and i intend to continue to add to my circle of funny, talented, photographic friends. Thank you to all that have visited my stream, made comments and given awards and invitations. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart...for i have been a very under confident participant for too long, and it is to all of you i owe my new found confidence that what i do is good and has value. the awards and invites are lovely, but getting to know you all through your comments and being able to respond are what make flickr for me!
A VERY special thanks to those who have gotten to know me quite well over these three plus years and love me anyway!! ;-D You are the reason that i am finally growing confidence in myself and what i do....for this i can never thank you enough....words just can't express what i feel in my heart for all of you....
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
oh! one more thing...my photos ARE copyrighted and belong to ME. i am pretty good at sharing and will most of the time, if i am asked nicely! if you take what doesn't belong to you without asking, well...hell hath no fury like ME scorned! You don't want to go there ;-)

"Susan is one of the few Flickr friends that I feel like I know just from our comments and messages. Her eye for beauty and ability to capture it is incredible, but the story she tells with almost every post is amazing..... makes me feel like I am more involved with the photo !
Hopefully we can meet one day, but if not I can say I have had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know this amazing person !!"3rd September, 2011

"I am one of the lucky people that knows Susan in person as well as on Flickr. I have known her for a long time and can attest to the fact that she is one of the most talented and creative people that I have ever met, with a great sense of humor and warm personality to complete the whole package. As far as talent goes... believe me her photos are just the tip of the iceberg. She is a true artist in any media that she attempts.
Our paths have crossed many times in the past years and I am so happy that they have recently crossed again renewing our friendship because we share so many of the same interests... a love of crafts, primtive stuff, antiques, history, decrepitude, soccer, all things summer and beachy... and now photography. I can thank her for bringing me to Flickr... I had visited before but was too intimidated by all the GREAT photos to post any of my own, and following Susan's photostream has inspired me to join Flickr myself, which is inspiring me to try to take more pictures and better pictures each day. I am loving the Flickr community! Thanks Susan!!
When is our next adventure?!"13th December, 2009

"Although I have never had the privilege of meeting Susan, I feel she is a really special friend, discovered through Flickr. Her postings and comments are 'all about life'. Her positivity is infectious, to the point that every time I log on, I look for her latest posting and the comments she occasionally makes on my postings - they are non judgmental and like gold. She is a special person who has a great photographic talent as well!"

"Susan was one of my earliest contacts on Flickr. (I was going to say she was one of my oldest contacts on Flickr but I think she might take exception to that characterization!) I can't remember how I stumbled upon her photostream almost two years ago, but I'm certainly glad I did. I have always enjoyed her macro work, her wonderful "Monday faces," her travel shots and her images of life at Ogden Manor. Her genuine love of spiders is infectious, and she's never seen a snake she didn't want to cuddle! :) She has a boundless enthusiasm for life in general and photography in particular, and I always enjoy her funny and witty captions. I truly look forward to seeing her "iconic" smile in my comments - she never fails to brighten my day. Susan personifies good cheer, even after a day at "the pen," and I'm honored to count her as a Flickr friend. Okay, Susan, now will you go out and buy a decent tripod??? :)"

"Susan has been my flickr friend for 18 months now.
Her photography work goes from strength to strength.
Her work is varied and a pleasure to view.
Superb is a good description of her work,
although I don't feel that does her work justice.
Susan has a wonderful sense of humour, and also a very
caring side.
I know she has and is supporting friends through troubled times.
Thanks for being my flickr friend Susan.

"I am delighted that a mutual contact sent Thruthelookingglass to my stream... we've been having a blast ever since she arrived!
Susan's work is gorgeous, outrageous, sensitive, funny and oh so clever!
She is capable of photographing everything and anything and she does! You never know what you will find on her stream- anything from a gorgeous flower to a pig's snoot!!! All shot well, processed beautifully and composed to perfection.
And every Monday morning we are all treated to a shot of an outrageous "Monday Face" that keeps us laughing all week long!
I especially love the fact that when I look at a pic and am busy trying to decide whether it would be okay to make the outrageous comment I really want to make but don't have the courage, Susan is busy posting the same comment without hesitation! I would love to be more like that!
Susan is funny, kind and talented and I'm delighted to have her as a Flickr Friend!"8th December, 2008

"Susan has the eye as some would call it. She is able to capture that moment in time of her subject at just the right time and place. She loves to photograph the spenders of nature and is thrilled just to be able to share it with others. She is willing to work with others and complement their work and be a good Flickr Friend. Overall she one of the nicest folks on Flickr and a very proven photographer as her explore ratio is high to the amount of photos she posts.
Happy to call her a friend
