What Matters About Photography
I believe photography is very important to everyone in the world. We use it every day to document our ups and downs, world triumphs and tragedies. It’s all over the web and all over the news. With one simple photograph we can tell more of a story than if we wrote a novel.
Showing our family and friends the joy of childhood too sharing our history of family members lost. We show where we have come from and possibly where we are headed. They say a photograph should tell a story and it does it starts people talking and sharing their memories and their beliefs.
We use it as a starting point for all kinds of interactions and escapisms. Showing other worlds we may never be able to visit and experience. It allows us to immerse ourselves into fantasy. Leaving behind our everyday lives for just a few minutes while we ponder the “what if’s” of life and adventure.
Photography matters because without it we would only be left with the black and white world of words and hearsay. Photography brings to life all the stories and memories that we speak about.
I don’t just take pictures I document the world around me for future generations to see what I saw and talk about where I came from and where I went. Possibly showing them there personal past to revealing a secret world few have seen. If I could wish one thing of my photography to accomplish it would be to show that I don’t just take pictures I capture history.
