About My Photography Practice

Informed by growing up in densely urban Kyiv (Ukraine), political involvement, and journeys far afield. I choose subjects and themes of socio-economic contrasts, urban environments, and the 'easily overlooked' ...

My primary ongoing project is called URBANITIES; it deals with urban spaces in the cities of North America. My other bodies of work in various stages of completion are UNCEDED, ICYCLES, and CHARRED. A new project being formulated in early 2011 is QUIET EARTH

I love to experiment with images and concepts. I keep my eyes open and my cameras close by. I taught myself photography by tinkering with old lenses. And though I am a bit color-blind and a bit near-sighted, I think that may actually aid my process ...
