Recently I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, an autistic disorder. Now I understand much better why I take pictures all the time. Other people may use photography as a way to simply record (their) history, but I need to understand the world around me. That's why I want to tell a story with my photographs - I always ask myself "What is happening here?" Others may feel a desire to take beautiful photos - they have a rather fixed idea about reality which they want to reproduce. They are not open to the unexpected, it upsets their sense of what is acceptable to them, or safe. They limit themselves to nice-looking buildings or persons, but I would be embarassed to show such images. I consider photography to be an art form, not merely a consumers' technique.
