NEW RULE:


my goal and limit is 2 photos per day
sometimes i throw an extra pair up on the weekend.
sometimes i fall behind and do 4-6 per day for a week or two.
i post in pairs...

when i come back from a trip i post about 6 photos per day otherwise i would be stuck for months.

i don't know how to edit. this is a stream not a portfolio. i only make decisions each day of what to upload so the images may not all make sense and may seem like too many. c'est la vie.

i've spent my time with digital images in visual effects work but i shoot exclusively with film. i like film because i don't think i shoot a better photo if i know how it turned out immediately. in fact for me the opposite is true. the less i know the more i feel... i take truly bad digital photos. truly!

unlike some i don't take my camera everywhere i go. i don't hope to have it with me when the moment appears rather i take it with me when i feel photos are going to come from me. if i force it for the moment the photos are just bad and i waste film. if someone tells me to bring my camera the photos will also be bad. if someone asks me why i AM bringing my camera... well thats because i'm feeling it.

major deegan suggested i read zen in the art of archery. a short read. the most important part of the book is the concept of becoming one with your target instead of aiming at it as is the western norm. to truly become one with the target makes hitting the target a novel side effect. transform to this to shooting film and a subject and you can see how it makes sense... read it

i used to always shoot with a nikon f3. i love this camera, its weight, its size, its bronzing, how it feels in my hand and against my face. i like straight shooting with nikkor primary lenses . zooms tend to ruin my photos by adding another distraction layer.

the other 135 camera i enjoy mainly because it belonged to my mother when i was born is a rollie 35 which i love. it has beautiful german made zeiss lens and silent compur shutter. it is so restrictive that it squeezes images from your soul. you focus and set exposure while not looking through the view finder... then when you frame there is nothing but the world in front of you - no needles, numbers, +, -, lights or anything - just the frame. its a lovely experience... use the force luke!

i have a kiev 60 medium format metal monster which was a gift. i have used it a few times and am trying to take it out more but right now the back cover is jammed and i cannot even load it. haha! now major deegan is using it.

most of my shooting right now is with my beloved pentax 67. it's a monster!

my 2nd camera these days is yashica MAT-124G which is wonderful to use but requires hand metering. i do covet a rolleiflex. i love the way this camera looks so much and it's feminine nature that i started the sometimes controversial group Girl with a TLR

i also have a nice wooden zero image pin hole camera that i am playing with. its the 6x9 multi-format. i ran my first roll through and decided to form a group for zero image enthusiasts! i've also been experimenting with building some diy pinhole cameras




that's me in a simplistic photographic sense... no need to complicate things with more.
