I first thought about taking up photography in the last 1990's when I went to an exhibition and a talk by Mark Power on his Shipping Forecast collection.

I still find these photographs captivating and was really inspired by this black and white collection. If you have not seen his work check it out at www.markpower.co.uk/index.cfm

However, the interest I had back then didn't amount to anything, depite the purchase of a second-hand Yashica SLR. I was pretty discouraged by my black and white, Ilford film, results!!!!

In 2007 I picked up a copy of Digital Camera Magazine, and without wishing to embarass him was pretty impressed by the work of David Constable who featured in that edition. With the advent of digital photography and relatively cheap DSLRs and lenses the whole package of photography seem a lot more accessible to me. David's work, particularly his very good compositional skills got me interested again - not sure why, but it did.

David Constable's gallery is at

I photographer I have recently come across that I am impressed by is Dennis Reddick. www.dennisreddickphotography.com/ He is South Coast based like me and in my opinion very good. Something to aim for!

Another favourite on Flickr isMark Alexander. Great low light photographer and another inspiration. www.flickr.com/photos/marcalexander/

Pi Production is another - brilliant PS work
