Ex-computer programmer, now teaching maths/science at high school.

I have been enjoying photography for as long as I can remember. My father put cameras (35mm SLR or Super-8) in my hands since I was maybe 4 years old, and encouraged me to experiment.

Since leaving high school and home, I have invested in my own camera equipment (initially Pentax 35mm SLRs, now a Nikon DSLR) and gradually developed and built my skills and technical repertoire. I have tried a wide variety of films, both print & slide, and I have particularly enjoyed exploring the wonderful, instant-feedback world of digital photography!

I love taking photos of the natural world. The beauty of the world around me inspires me to try to capture the feeling and memory. I especially look for unusual views: close-ups, odd angles, abstract or interesting patterns.

Available-light photography appeals to me: in general I prefer not to use flash. I love light traces, streaming water, night city scenes, and my photos of blurred motion are starting to improve. I got some lovely photos of Hale-Bopp comet on colour print film back in 1997.

I'm working on my portrait photography. I love taking candids, especially with a long lens.

My photos are for sale! If you would like a high-resolution copy of an image for printing, please contact me. Some photos are also available for use in public and/or advertising contexts.
