I'm a mom, wife, love photography and Photoshop and would love to spend more time taking pictures. Alas, photography is not my job and I have to work to support my camera habit.

I started out in the Social Networking World as scrapgeek, because at the time, I was pretty geeky--doing lots of computer stuff, like adding hardware, configuring systems and Networks, etc. Plus, I thought it was kind of clever, since I did lots of digital scrapbooking and was a geek. Apparently it was not THAT clever, as I found that on more and more sites I was joining my username was already taken (the nerve!) Not one to give up easily, I tried using variations (scrap-geek, digi-scrapgeek, scrapgeek-wa, you get the idea); however I soon got tired of that!
Also, over the years I grew weary of fixing computers at work all day and then come home and do the same (yea, I am talking about you, PC, Windows and shudder Vista). Well, that and I started taking more and more pictures (I think the kids may have something to do with that) and wanted to actually do something with them once I uploaded them to my computer (I have a story or two about this on my blog).
So a couple of years ago (wow, has it been that long already?) I took the plunge from PC to MAC and discovered that the Ads are pretty much true--it just works!
Although I'm still a geek (hey, I still get the Thinkgeek.com newsletter--love Timmy), I thought I'd update my screen name (bet you were wondering were I was going with this, eh?) and I came up with NKMphotos. The NKM is for Nick and Katie's Mom. Ok, I admit it's not much of a stretch, but I like it.
So now I'm in the process of transitioning links, references, subscriptions (sheesh, I didn't think it would be that much work :D). I just hope I don't end up losing contacts when they see a different name and go Wait, who is this, I don't recall adding them as contacts...

Ok, enough background, back to me: I love taking pictures of my kids (if they'd only hold still long enough to get a couple of decent shots). I like textures, so I'm always low to the ground or up close to a wall to capture lots of grungy goodness. If you like and/or download any of my creations (Coming soon to a Textures Set right here on this page), please leave a comment and if you use it, please credit me and send me a link. I'd love to see how they are used.

Here's where you can find me:
I'm on Twitter
and Facebook
and I just created a Facebook Page for NKM Photos (not much there yet, but I'm working on it :)
