I retired from my career in 2005. Since my career was my passion, and my retirement was very much like a divorce...friends vanished and an emptiness occured.

I determined that I had to develop other activities for which I could have equal passion. Quilting and traveling became my "replacement" passions. I was quickly discovered that quilters tend to be a passionate lot! Quilters love fabric, they love going to quilt shops, they love gadgets, they love sharing, they are passionate. I fit right in.

Since my retirement, I've combined quilting with travel and found a quilting friend who also likes to combine the two. Together, we have traveled (driven) to/from Alaska and visited 100 quilt shops (2008). We also drove to NYC via Pennsylvania Amish Country and Ohio Amish Country and visited many, many quilt shops.

At the urging of other quilters, I've gone to the Paducah Quilt Show, the Des Moines Quilt Exp, Road to California, and Houston Quilt Show. What fun! How inspiring!
