Four years and still here...

I joined Flickr as a user on Nov 5, 2007 and it's been a fun ride since with ups and downs in frequency and utility. Over the past year, I've not shot nearly as many pictures as I'd like to do. There have been technical challenges and creative ones as well. I did get the opportunity to shoot a wedding for friends and it spurred serious growth in technique and style. I've learned new techniques for processing my data, as evidenced in more consistent colors. I've also had some breakthroughs with my astrophotos. Still, I'm casting about to try to find a vision that works for my eyes.

I'm still using my Pentax K10D. I picked up a second body that helped me do the wedding shoot. I've also added a few new lenses to my lineup. Also, I picked up my first serious off-camera flash unit, the Pentax 540 FGZ. This has finally opened up lots of possibilities for portrait shots that were difficult to get past.

I've not been doing as much of the macro photography which got me started. What I'm finding more interesting is getting good, flattering portraits. I think that there are still abstract images that I can get with viewing nature, architecture, or scenery, I've just not as driven in these areas.

I'm hoping to turn some things around soon as I'm putting myself through some drills on using the camera and improving my workflow. Over time, these exercises will pay off.
